So­ci­ety is set to meet

La­nark­shire fam­ily his­tory so­ci­ety will host a drop- in ses­sion in Air­drie this Mon­day.

The event takes place in the com­mu­nity room at Tesco, in the town’s re­tail park, from 7pm to 9pm.

All are wel­come to at­tend for ad­vice on re­search­ing their fam­ily his­tory, with or­gan­is­ers say­ing: “So­ci­ety mem­bers will be on hand to as­sist those who’ve hit a brick wall or who would like help to take the first steps in dig­ging up their roots.”

Mean­while, the so­ci­ety’s first meet­ing of the new sea­son takes place next Thurs­day, September 14, at 7pm in the GLO Cen­tre in Mother­well.

Guest speaker Harry Doyle will de­scribe the con­nec­tions to Hamil­ton of Ad­mi­ral Thomas Cochrane, nick­named the Sea Wolf by Napoleon and who proved an in­spi­ra­tion for naval fic­tion of the 19th and 20th cen­tury.
