Sir John Wilson Town Hall was the venue for an event to dis­cuss com­mu­nity pri­or­i­ties.

Vol­un­tary or­gan­i­sa­tions and mem­bers of the pub­lic joined rep­re­sen­ta­tives of emer­gency ser­vices, North La­nark­shire Coun­cil and Vol­un­tary Ac­tion North La­nark­shire at the sum­mit to en­cour­age peo­ple to be­come more in­volved with lo­cal area part­ner­ships (LAPs).

Each LAP meets quar­terly, with Coat­bridge’s next meet­ing tak­ing place on Septem­ber 26 at 6.30pm in the town’s com­mu­nity cen­tre and Air­drie’s the fol­low­ing day at 6pm in the town hall.

Fol­low­ing a re­view, the groups will make meet­ings more ac­ces­si­ble and fo­cus on com­mu­nity-led dis­cus­sions on pri­or­i­ties.

De­pute coun­cil leader Paul Kelly said: “LAPs pro­vide an op­por­tu­nity for peo­ple to come to­gether and share pri­or­i­ties and re­sources.

“No one knows more about lo­cal need that those liv­ing in, rep­re­sent­ing or work­ing in com­mu­ni­ties.”
