Locals to have their say
Sir John Wilson Town Hall was the venue for an event to discuss community priorities.
Voluntary organisations and members of the public joined representatives of emergency services, North Lanarkshire Council and Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire at the summit to encourage people to become more involved with local area partnerships (LAPs).
Each LAP meets quarterly, with Coatbridge’s next meeting taking place on September 26 at 6.30pm in the town’s community centre and Airdrie’s the following day at 6pm in the town hall.
Following a review, the groups will make meetings more accessible and focus on community-led discussions on priorities.
Depute council leader Paul Kelly said: “LAPs provide an opportunity for people to come together and share priorities and resources.
“No one knows more about local need that those living in, representing or working in communities.”
