Voyeur teacher’s admits his guilt
A shamed teacher has pled guilty to secretly filming the private parts of pupils and young girls at the primary school – which cannot be named for legal reasons – where he worked.
James Hughes, 5 4 , recorded oblivious youngsters with his phone and iPad during out-of-class one-to-one lessons and asked the girls to stand on chairs and put their legs up in the air while he recorded them under a desk.
The principal teacher was only caught after teenagers carrying out work experience discovered him filming them, and one of the girls reported him to the headteacher after finding photos of herself on his iPad.
Hughes’ school office and Uddingston home were searched and police found 260 images and 79 recordings on his phone and computers.
He pled guilty to two charges of voyeurism under the Sexual Offences Scotland Act by secretly filming and photographing girls aged between eight and 15.
Sheriff Petra Collins deferred sentence until next month before placing Hughes, who was suspended from his post when the allegations came to light, on the sex offenders’ register.
