Dealer threw drugs out of the win­dow

An Air­drie drug dealer faces a lengthy jail sen­tence af­ter be­ing snared with a sub­stan­tial quan­tity of am­phetem­ines in his pos­ses­sion.

Stephen He­witt, 33, of Honey­well Cres­cent, Chapel­hall, was ap­pre­hended by drugs squad de­tec­tives at his home on July 14, where he was found to be sup­ply­ing the Class B drugs to oth­ers.

He­witt de­nied in­ten­tion­ally ob­struct­ing five po­lice of­fi­cers who raided his home. It was claimed he threw a bag con­tain­ing sub­stances out of a win­dow in a bid to avoid de­tec­tion.

He also de­nied be­ing in pos­ses­sion of cannabis.

Both not guilty pleas were ac­cepted by the Crown. Sher­iff Sara Math­e­son de­ferred sen­tence un­til Oc­to­ber 11 for background re­ports.
