Pupils go to polls to elect captain

Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser - - News -

Electing a new school captain proved to be a tough task for pupils at Airdrie Academy.

Competition for the prestigious role was fierce due to the high standard of candidates in contention.

But following a“rigorous selection process”, Eman Qasim was the worthy winner chosen to represent her fellow students for the whole of the 2017/18 school session.

Every great leader needs a strong support system, though, and Eman will be assisted by her vice-captains, Rebecca Morgan and Katie Laing.

The trio are all“incredibly excited” to be chosen to fill the important posts and they are pictured (above) with proud Airdrie Academy head teacher Martin Anderson.

A school spokesperson said:“We wish Eman, Rebecca and Katie all the very best for a successful school session.

“They came out on top of a rigorous selection process to secure their new roles and were thrilled when they found out the news.

“Being captain and vice-captains at the school is hugely important and we’re sure all three girls will do a wonderful job.”
