Greig wary of Lanark’s new boss “bounce”
Gartcairn boss Davie Greig has urged his players to be wary of a much-improved Lanark side boosted by their “new manager bounce.”
The Cairn boss issued the warning as they prepare for a trip to Moor Park this weekend — with new gaffer Paul Burns enjoying a derby-day victory over Carluke in his first game last week.
Despite a slow start to the season from their opponents this Saturday, gaffer Greig believes they will be a different proposition under Burns’ helm.
“Lanark won’t be happy with start they’ve had, but they have changed things around now,” he told the Advertiser.
“Paul Burns has come in and they seem to have improved.
“When there is a change teams can enjoy a bit of a lift. There always seems to be a newmanager bounce.
“He was unbeaten while he was in caretaker charge, then won his first official game last week.
“So we can’t be complacent. We are under no illusions. They will test us.”
Greig believes that the Central Division District Two leaders will be without skipper Kevin Ross again for the trip across Lanarkshire, and stated striker Gary Arbuckle will be assessed during the week.
