MSP Elaine is backing our hospice appeal

Elaine Smith MSP is lending her support to our Advertiser Readers’ Room appeal for St Andrew’s Hospice.

The Central Scotland MSP, from Coatbridge, attended our special campaign event last week and told how the much-loved Monklands charity is close to her heart.

She said: “So many people in Coatbridge and Airdrie have had relations or friends in hospice and definitely know its worth; it’s a fantastic resource with a caring ethos.

“I’ve had personal experience of the hospice and quickly signed up to become an ambassador for the capital appeal when it launched.

“The new rooms are going to make a huge difference for people, who can have personal space or a shared ward, and can get straight outside from each room for fresh air and to the garden.

“St Andrew’s Hospice is so important tothe community and this development will help patients and families – and it’s fantastic that the Advertiser, as the local paper, is taking the initiative to run this appeal.”
