A public meeting will take place on Monday about the proposed energy from waste plant at Carnbroe.

The event has been a r ranged by Fulton MacGregor, the Coatbridge MSP – who recent l y conducted a household survey, online and by post, to canvass opinion on the latest plans.

It will take place at Carnbroe Primary at 7.30pm on Monday; and will be attended by a representative of developers CoGen, “to answer the concerns of local people”.

Mr MacGregor told the Advertiser: “This is a serious topic of incredible importance to the people of Carnbroe and surrounding areas. There have been further applications to vary the initial plans for the site, and it’s important that local people are able to ask questions before deciding whether to make representations to the planning process, and whether that be in support of the changes or otherwise.

“I am delighted that CoGen have confirmed they will be sending one of their experts to answer questions and look forward to a productive meeting.”

He added of his survey results: “88.71 per cent of responses were against [the plans]; 9.48 per cent have concerns.”

A total of 443 households participated in the MSP’s survey on the subject.
