Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser - - News - Judith Tonner

Plains residents are being asked for their views on a proposed new open-space development at Stanrigg Park.

New features including climbing boulders and dry-stone structures have been suggested, along with new woodland and path improvements.

A consultation session will take place in the village’s community centre on Tuesday, from 3pm to 8pm; while a questionnaire seeking opinions on the project is available at local shops and via the Facebook page of Plains Community Futures.

They are working alongside the council and Central Scotland Green Network (CSGNT) Trust, and Futures chair George McCutcheon said: “This would improve the redundant waterlogged football park.

“We’re looking to change and enhance the landscape of Plains; this is a one- off opportunity to make our village more family-oriented, and I’d urge residents to complete the survey.”

Mike Batley of CSGNT said: “This initiative would develop a real asset for the community.”
