Businesses benefit from rates scheme
Airdrie MSP Alex Neil has welcomed new figures which he says “prove” the success of the Scottish Government’s Small Business Bonus scheme.
Across Scotland, the small business bonus scheme paid out more than £226 million in the past year, supporting over 103,000 firms by reducing their rates liability and taking some out of business rates altogether.
In North Lanarkshire, the number of firms benefitting from the flagship Scottish Government policy has risen from 2340 in 2008 to 4154, with £10.4 million being spent across the area to support local businesses.
Mr Neil said: “These figures prove the success of the Small Business Bonus for firms across North Lanarkshire.
“To have 4154 businesses in North Lanarkshire and over 103,000 across Scotland benefiting from this policy is good for jobs and good for communities – helping to keep more money in our neighbourhoods and boosting our high streets.”
