Coatbridge MP Hugh Gaffney showed his support for the nation’s firefighters by attending a Westminster event hosted by the Fire Brigades Union.

The event was arranged to recognise and celebrate the invaluable work firefighters do in keeping communities safe.

Mr Gaffney said: “It was a privilege to have the opportunity to meet some of the professionals who do this invaluable, challenging work.

“Fi r e f i g hters who responded to the Grenfell Tower fire had their training and professionalism tested to the limit.

“And all MPs should support our fire and rescue services in the interests of both public and firefighter safety.”

The “love your firefighters” event at the Houses of Parliament was attended by more than 70 MPs, who heard a speech from FBU general secretary Matt Wrack urging them to “support the invaluable work firefighters do in their communities, keeping us all safe.”
