Joy over lotto aid
School’s £10k lift
Pupils at Townhead Primary in Coatbridge will be jumping for joy after their school received a £ 10,000 lottery jackpot.
They have received a grant from the Big Lottery Fund which will be used for new playground equipment to increase active play, as well as sand pits, planters and a large rainproof shelter with seating.
Longriggend village association in Airdrie also benefited from the latest round of grants to be announced, with residents planning to use the money to refurbish and improve village hall facilities, installing an improved combi boiler and heating system.
Members of Whifflet ladies’ group in Coatbridge will expand their programme of activities with a £ 3349 boost; while adults attending the Mount Pleasant mother and toddler group in Chapelhall received £660 to fund first aid training.
The four Monklands organisations were among 19 from across North Lanarkshire to benefit from this week’s round of awards – including St Andrew’s Ambulance Association, who received £9251 to train young carers in first aid; and North Lanarkshire District netball club, whose £600 grant will help them compete at district level.
