Joy over lotto aid

School’s £10k lift

Pupils at Town­head Pri­mary in Coat­bridge will be jump­ing for joy af­ter their school re­ceived a £ 10,000 lot­tery jack­pot.

They have re­ceived a grant from the Big Lot­tery Fund which will be used for new play­ground equip­ment to in­crease ac­tive play, as well as sand pits, planters and a large rain­proof shel­ter with seat­ing.

Lon­griggend vil­lage as­so­ci­a­tion in Air­drie also ben­e­fited from the lat­est round of grants to be an­nounced, with res­i­dents plan­ning to use the money to re­fur­bish and im­prove vil­lage hall fa­cil­i­ties, in­stalling an im­proved combi boiler and heat­ing sys­tem.

Mem­bers of Whif­flet ladies’ group in Coat­bridge will ex­pand their pro­gramme of ac­tiv­i­ties with a £ 3349 boost; while adults at­tend­ing the Mount Pleas­ant mother and tod­dler group in Chapel­hall re­ceived £660 to fund first aid train­ing.

The four Mon­k­lands or­gan­i­sa­tions were among 19 from across North La­nark­shire to ben­e­fit from this week’s round of awards – in­clud­ing St An­drew’s Am­bu­lance As­so­ci­a­tion, who re­ceived £9251 to train young car­ers in first aid; and North La­nark­shire District net­ball club, whose £600 grant will help them com­pete at district level.
