Charities boosted by events
Pupils at Buchanan High have again showed support for two of their favourite charities by taking part in two annual projects.
They participated in the annual “world’s biggest coffee morning” in aid of Macmillan cancer support, and raised a grand total of £455.
As well as selling cakes and refreshments to parents, staff and fellow pupils at the Coatbridge school, the group also boosted their fundraising total by organising raffles, a tombola and a game of “cake bingo”.
Buchanan pupils then joined forces with younger friends from Drumpark Primary for their annual Christmas shoebox project – and filled a record 255 boxes.
They filled boxes with items including toiletries, stationery, clothes and toys for the annual Blythswood Care appeal, to be distributed to underprivileged people overseas.
Head teacher Michael McGinley said: “It was a pleasure to watch the pupils work tirelessly and with such enthusiasm.”
