DELVE INTO THE ADVERTISER ARCHIVES Toy story event at museum
Vintage fun and games were dusted off and freshened up to treat Monklands children to a day to remember back in 1989.
Eight- year- old Lynsey Rankine, pictured in the Advertiser of August 4 in that year, was one of thousands of kids to visit Summerlee heritage centre in Coatbridge during the school summer holidays.
Lynsey demonstrated newfound skills with an old-style gird’n’cleek at the industrial museum, showing Advertiser staff mystified by the classic props how it was done.
A Summerlee Heritage Centre spokesperson said: “Youngsters like Lynsey seem to enjoy playing with the old toys.
“This makes for a welcome change from their usual toys and games.”
