Competition had a serious message
School pupils from 13 North Lanarkshire high schools participated in a seven-a-side football competition to raise awareness about suicide prevention.
Airdrie Academy won the tournament, beating Cumbernauld’s Our Lady’s in the final.
Teens from St Ambrose and St Margaret’s also took part in last week’s event – which aimed to inform players, teachers and spectators about the impact of suicide and also highlight the stigma surrounding mental health in men.
Airdrieonians backed the event which was also watched by Albion Rovers boss Brian Kerr.
