Our social media community also contacted us in their droves to pay tribute to the memory of Coatbridge man James Morris after his brother Karl unveiled a commemorative plaque at Airdrie’s Wester Moffat Hospital.

James, 75, passed away last April following his 54-year stay at the hospital, which is believed to be the longest of any patient in a single British institution.

James’ niece Julie commented: “Aww, my wee uncle Jimmy; love and miss you every single day.

“There’s not a second I don’t think of you; always in my heart.”

Liz McGroarty responded: That’s lovely Julie. Jimmy will always be remembered.”

Ellen Low had the pleasure of James’ company on more than one occasion: “I used to have a laugh with Jimmy most days while my mum was in hospital. God bless.”

Irene McKenzie said: “James was a true gent.”

Geraldine Kennedy posted: “I had the pleasure of knowing James.”

Maria Andrews paid her tribute to James: “Miss Jimmy every day.”

While Jacqueline McFarlane added: “God bless him”.
