London, Paris and Milan are normally home to Europe’s finest fashion shows – but a Coatbridge extravaganza put them all to shame.

The catwalk kings and queens at Buchanan High School were more than ready for their close-ups as they rocked some tremendous tartan for the Scottish-themed event.

With the support of their family, friends and school staff, the pupils put on a trend-setting showcase where they modelled tartan scarves, waistcoats, shirts and skirts.

The fashion show was held in aid of school funds, with a three-figure sum raised – proving worthy recognition of the youngsters’hard work and dedication.

A Buchanan High School spokesperson told the Advertiser: “Our pupils always welcome the chance to have fun while doing their bit to raise funds for the school.

“They had a great time trying on and modelling the clothes and were given a rapturous response from the audience of school staff and special guests.

“We wish to thank the pupils and their families for putting everything into the fashion show, ensuring it was a wonderful occasion.” A creative writing group that meet in Airdrie’s Chapelside Centre on the first and third Thursday of each month are seeking new members.

Anyone interested in “a diverse range of genres, including poetry, short stories and local history” can attend the Black Street venue from 12pm to 2pm.
