Testing times ahead

-

Jim Milton Rovers’defeat to Forfar on Saturday almost certainly dooms us to a straight shoot-out with Queen’s Park for the relegation play-off spot.

Just when it looked like we would witness a rare Rovers clean sheet at the weekend, Forfar produced the one moment of quality in the match and essentially secured their survival.

Looking at the remaining fixtures, there are no easy points on offer for either team.

Rovers’best hope is that Ayr United are already on the beach for our last day visit to Somerset Park – but it could be just as vital for them as they chase the title.

Queen’s Park must also visit title hopefuls Raith Rovers next week and they have to win to keep their hopes alive.

Also, next week there is the small matter of the last Monklands derby of the season– and maybe the last one for some time.

They say the form book goes out the window for such matches and Rovers will be hoping that’s the case.

However, our hosts haven’t exactly been setting the heather on fire themselves recently.

Airdrie have assured their safety in the league for another season but the promotion play-offs are out of their reach.

Could it be that Rovers’greater need for the points could favour us?
