Airgun World - - What’s Going On -

I’ve been going to shooting shows of one kind or another for 40 years, but I can’t recall a more important one than this year’s British Shooting Show, held recently at the National Exhibition Centre. It was important to all shooters because it was an underlined statement which confirmed the shooting sports as a valid and legitimate part of our country’s identity.

There, at the NEC, where our nation’s love of cars, dogs, photography, fashion, crafts, sci-fi, holidays, and just about everything else that sustains our society, can now be added the shooting sports. Yes, we now officially matter enough to warrant a major show at this country’s most prestigious exhibition venue, and that my friends, is a huge statement on our behalf. If we can maintain this exhibition, this public demonstration of our importance and legitimacy, it will significantly strengthen and promote our wonderful pastime.

Only time, and an unbelievable amount of hard work from the British Shooting Show’s organisors, teamed with the full support of the shooting industry and you, its customers, will decide where the show goes from here, but a fantastic start has been made and I sincerely hope it goes from strength to strength. Well done to everyone who made this event such a positive declaration of our importance.
