STILL KEEN, TERRY?

Airgun World - - Points Of You -

I hope you don’t mind me asking you this, Terry, but how old are you and are you really as keen on this sport as you were 20 years ago when you were competing every week in FT? I’m not being cheeky – although I realise I am – it’s just that I think I’m around your age and I’m definitely not as keen to tramp the fields in all weathers to shoot a rabbit. I hope my passion for the sport I’ve loved for most of my life isn’t waning. I’d hate to give it up after all these years. How about a bit of inspiration?

CLIVE WILLIAMSON

Well, Clive, I hit 62 this July, and although the competition fire burned itself out many years ago, if anything, I’m even more obsessed with this sport than I’ve ever been. I still shoot in all weathers, mainly while testing rifles for this magazine, and my excitement when I’m watching new airguns and related products appear before my widening eyes, truly knows no bounds. I’m involved on different levels to most airgunners, of course, but hand on heart, if I wasn’t totally turned on by this sport, I’d retire immediately – and that won’t happen for a year or two yet. Hope you rediscover that spark, Clive! – Ed

Keen? More like still ravingly obsessed, actually.
