A I think that a rowan (Sorbus) would be perfect. They are neat trees with elegant branches. Clusters of flowers in spring are followed by berries in autumn and the leaves will turn a gorgeous shade towards the end of the year.

There are many lovely forms to choose

from. Sorbus vilmorinii has ferny foliage, white flowers and pink berries. S. cashmiriana has pink flowers and white berries and S. scalaris has white flowers and red berries.

Other choices include: holly, hawthorn, Crab apple, acer and Cornus.
