Naturalised bulbs

Amateur Gardening - - Your Gardening Week -

Bulbs that have been naturalised in a lawn shouldn’t be lifted.

If left in place, the bulbs will grow and the plants will multiply, giving a better show in following years.

Leave their foliage intact and if they are growing in a lawn, wait until it dies back completely before mowing over them.

The leaves return energy to the bulbs, causing them to grow with improved flowering.

Leave snake’s head fritillary bulbs in place and they will multiply.
