Battery mowers

Amateur Gardening - - Your Letters -

I READ the letter (AG, 18 February) about the merits of different types of mower. Tim Billbrough was stating that electric lawnmowers are good, which they are, but I suggest everyone considers battery-operated models.

So when my old electric mower broke, I bought a battery lawnmower. It’s great – no cables to hamper you, the battery lasts for the whole of the 30ft and 40ft lawns, and the best thing is the new mower is slightly lighter than the old one and has made cutting the lawn a pleasure again.

Wendy says AG’s Editor has found the new lithium-ion machines much better than battery models of the past – and much lighter and less trouble than petrol. He found the battery gave four cuts before needing a re-charge.

“The mower has made cutting the lawn a pleasure,” says Anne
