Crab anD oYster boilie
I wanted to give the crab boilie an extra boost, to give it more of an edge. After lots of experimentation, I came up with a recipe whereby I increased the amount of crab meat and added some oyster sauce, whilst still retaining the original base mix. This latest version has worked exceptionally well for carp and catfish, and it just goes to show that a bait can always be enhanced.
My wife and I both prefer using paste to boilies, as we tend to fish fairly short sessions, and believe that cooking a paste can denature it, lowering the protein content during the boiling process.
When fishing using hair-rigged boilies, we wrap them with the paste, and we also like to fish a hair-rigged cork ball wrapped in paste, for effective results.
■ The addition of oyster sauce gave the recipe an extra dimension, proving irresistible to catfish and carp.
