AIs there any ad­van­tage in coloured split shot?

I think there are a cou­ple of ad­van­tages to be gained by us­ing coloured shot. To be­gin with, by us­ing darker colours that are less ob­tru­sive than bright shot, your rigs blend in bet­ter with their sur­round­ings.

But I have dis­cov­ered an even bet­ter side to us­ing painted shot, in that it doesn’t tend to slip as eas­ily as plain ver­sions. The paint-cov­ered sur­face grips the line bet­ter. I par­tic­u­larly find this the case with larger shot such as AAAs and SSGs, which I use to lock wag­glers on the line.
