What’s being caught? Aldford and Pulford producing plenty of action with silver fish, and a few carp to 6 lb. Carp still feeding well across all the pools, just stick at it and they will switch on. Tactics? Try to establish more than one feed line, and keep topping up little and often with pole potted micro pellets, trying soft pellets over the top.
Whitbarrow Road, Lymm, Cheshire, WA13 9BA. Day tickets £8. Tel: 01925 757985.
Very enjoyable results off all three pools at the moment. Plenty of good-sized carp to 10 lb off most pegs on Lark. Also skimmers galore, with ide and chub also showing widely. Catches to around 40 lb.
Pole is really effective, with corn, worms and casters bringing lots of action. Later in the day try a rod down the edge baited with corn or worms for a larger-than-average carp.
Old Hough Coarse Fishery
Where? Forge Mill Lane, Warmingham, Middlewich, Cheshire, CW10 0HQ. Day tickets £6-£7. Tel: 07765 000857. What’s being caught? Lots of carp to 6 lb, roach, bream and rudd, typically 50-90 lb winning matches. Try a day on Benbo or Lucky Dip (matches permitting) for best catches.
Tactics? Feed steadily with pellets and maggots, and try corn and 6 mm banded pellets for the larger carp on pole.
Where? Winterley Pool Farm, Crewe Road, Winterley,
Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 5TR.

What’s being caught? Carp to doubles still responding well to longer stay anglers, with a few 20 lb-plus fish. Pike to 12 lb, perch to 1 lb, roach and bream. Tactics? A fairly typical specimen water, requiring a boilie-based approach most of the time, but meat, worms and pellets can also work superbly here. Roach on casters, and pike on deadbaits.
