A great lit­tle stretch with 44 pegs, many with plat­forms and park­ing by all pegs. Bar­bel to 11 lb, carp, chub and pike for spec­i­men an­glers and lots of roach, perch, dace, skim­mers and grayling for float an­glers. A pike of 22 lb was caught re­cently, by the up­stream weir. Tac­tics? Leg­ered boilies, pel­lets and meat have brought the best re­sults for the spessy an­glers. Wag­gler or stick float with mag­gots or cast­ers and hemp for good mixed bags of smaller fish. Dead­baits and lures for the preda­tors.

What’s be­ing caught? There have been some good bar­bel to dou­bles re­ported from the Ouse around Nun Monk­ton. Also bream and roach.

Elv­ing­ton Fish­eries

Where? Whel­drake Lane, Elv­ing­ton, York, YO41 4AZ. Day tick­ets £6 two rods; £7 three rods. Tel: 01904 607504. What’s be­ing caught? Plenty of carp, bream and cat­fish, with carp to high dou­bles and cat­fish into the 40s. One an­gler re­ported a bag of 18 carp and two cats in a week­end. Also a 3 lb cru­cian banked re­cently. Tac­tics? Leg­ered boilies, on the bot­tom or popped up, best for the carp. The cats have been caught on 15 mm boilies.

Farview Fish­ing Lakes

Where? Lee Lane, Bin­g­ley,

West York­shire, BD16 1UF. Day tick­ets £7. Tel: 07790 881323. What’s be­ing caught? Carp dom­i­nat­ing catches, along with bream, chub and tench. Match weights to 90 lb-plus and plea­sure bags higher. Lots of roach on mag­gots if the big­ger fish let you down.

Tac­tics? Short pole for the best catches, with meat, pel­lets or dead mag­gots over ground­bait. Small Method feeder also pro­duc­ing. Short pole with plenty of loosefed mag­gots for lots of roach.
