Short fishing fix at Lodge

Anglers Mail - - New Gear -

Amost of you will know, I tend to prefer natural venues and traditional species, but every once in a while I do enjoy a bit of carp fishing on commercials.

The other day a window of opportunity arose for a short session, but with no bait and no time to get to the tackle shop, I headed off to Lodge Farm, near Bawtry (tel: 07815 030694, sat nav: DN10 6AX), where I knew I could buy some pellets and that there would be pegs available on new pleasure-only lakes, Sandpiper and Thistle.

I had a lovely two and a half hours catching countless pristine little mirrors and commons on purpose-built Thistle Lake, and used about £1 worth of bait. Great fishing and well worth a visit.
