JACK HARVEY wasn’t complaining when his only fish of a 24-hour trip to a free stretch of the lower River Thames was this PB 14 lb 8 oz barbel.

The decorator, from West London, legered an 18 mm Mainline Cell wafter on a hair rig tight to an island margin.

Further upstream, Joshua Flint chipped in with a 14 lb barbel from the Thames at Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

The local 25-year-old conservatory fitter offered a glugged Sonubaits Oozing Spicy Sausage pellet over hemp and Spam, with a freerunning lead.

And service engineer Rob Waters tempted this 13 lb 12 oz barbel from the Lower Thames on a two-hour evening trip.

The 44-year-old quivertipped punched luncheon meat with a small PVA bag of free offerings on a simple running leger rig.
