ROUND three of the 80-en­try Bobco Tackle York­shire Win­ter League found the Ouse at Lin­ton, Ald­wark, Thorpe and Wid­ding­ton 3 ft high and ris­ing, putting roach off the feed.

How­ever, the res­i­dent bar­bel loved it, and Mick Shaw (The Glen) landed three for a win­ning 26 lb 4 oz, al­ter­nat­ing lob­worm and pel­lets on a bomb at Ald­wark peg 248.

John Cy­rowski (Barlby) was sec­ond with a bar­bel brace go­ing 16 lb 12 oz from peg 265 at Lin­ton, while the day’s big­gest fish, a mighty 11-pounder, fell to Bill Col­lier (Leeds), who fished lob­worm at the next peg to the win­ner for third with 11 lb 2 oz.

Bor­don peg back Dork­ing

DREN­NAN Bor­don en­sured the mighty Daiwa Dork­ing squad won’t have things all their own way in the Avon Val­ley Win­ter League by win­ning Round Three on sec­tion wins count­back, af­ter ty­ing on 74 points apiece. Three sec­tions win to Dork­ing’s two on the Ken­net and Avon Canal at Great Bed­wyn, Wilt­shire, meant Bor­don nar­rowed the gap with five points to Dork­ing’s four.

End pegs were a ma­jor bonus, Mark God­dard (Daiwa Dork­ing) top­ping the solo charts on 11 lb 11 oz of skim­mers, roach and perch from peg F9, from Mick Cook (Brown­ing Crows­ports) with a sim­i­lar 11 lb 2 oz at H9. Andy Jane (Sen­sas Lobby’s) emerged vic­to­ri­ous in Round Three of the Up­per Thames WL, on the Bris­tol Avon from Melk­sham to Chip­pen­ham, in Wilt­shire.

The six chub that Andy ex­tracted on block-end feeder and mag­gots from the snag-strewn peg above the sea cadets hut gave him a clear win on 19 lb 14 oz.
