Barbel feed on swollen Ouse
ROUND three of the 80-entry Bobco Tackle Yorkshire Winter League found the Ouse at Linton, Aldwark, Thorpe and Widdington 3 ft high and rising, putting roach off the feed.
However, the resident barbel loved it, and Mick Shaw (The Glen) landed three for a winning 26 lb 4 oz, alternating lobworm and pellets on a bomb at Aldwark peg 248.
John Cyrowski (Barlby) was second with a barbel brace going 16 lb 12 oz from peg 265 at Linton, while the day’s biggest fish, a mighty 11-pounder, fell to Bill Collier (Leeds), who fished lobworm at the next peg to the winner for third with 11 lb 2 oz.

Bordon peg back Dorking
DRENNAN Bordon ensured the mighty Daiwa Dorking squad won’t have things all their own way in the Avon Valley Winter League by winning Round Three on section wins countback, after tying on 74 points apiece. Three sections win to Dorking’s two on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire, meant Bordon narrowed the gap with five points to Dorking’s four.
End pegs were a major bonus, Mark Goddard (Daiwa Dorking) topping the solo charts on 11 lb 11 oz of skimmers, roach and perch from peg F9, from Mick Cook (Browning Crowsports) with a similar 11 lb 2 oz at H9. Andy Jane (Sensas Lobby’s) emerged victorious in Round Three of the Upper Thames WL, on the Bristol Avon from Melksham to Chippenham, in Wiltshire.
The six chub that Andy extracted on block-end feeder and maggots from the snag-strewn peg above the sea cadets hut gave him a clear win on 19 lb 14 oz.
