Ltd con­trol sev­eral ex­cel­lent still­wa­ters around the Bed­ford­shire/Cam­bridgeshire bor­der, and stretches of the Rivers Ivel and Great Ouse. Their blue-riband wa­ter is Ginger­bread Lake, which holds carp to 40 lb-plus, spec­i­men tench and bream, with the nearby Sandy Lakes com­plex a fast-ris­ing at­trac­tion. The club is af­fil­i­ated to the Ivel Preser­va­tion As­so­ci­a­tion, which gives mem­bers fur­ther ac­cess to other clubs’ waters. What’s be­ing caught? Tench to 4 lb, perch, roach and rudd be­tween the vil­lage bridges and along the first 20 pegs at Chapel Farm. Dou­ble-fig­ure pike also pos­si­ble.

Tac­tics? Chopped worm, cast­ers, red mag­gots and dead pinkies feed for the tench. Light pole rigs with squatts, pinkies and ground­bait for the roach and rudd. Float leg­ered smelt or lam­prey for the pike.
