What’s be­ing caught? Pike fish­ing ex­cel­lent, with Si­mon Dick­son boat­ing one of 21 lb 8 oz. The perch fish­ing is also good, with fish to 3 lb 8 oz. Matches be­ing won with 40 lb-plus of mostly roach!

Tac­tics? Pike and perch fall­ing to lures. Roach com­ing to ground­bait feeder and mag­gots at dis­tance.

Bar­den Lake

£60 plus a £10 join­ing fee (night tick­ets £300). Day tick­ets for pike are just £5 per rod; £10 per rod for carp. Tel: 07947 557140. What’s be­ing caught? Far from an easy carp venue, but it has a big head of 20s, 30s, nu­mer­ous 40s and back in July pro­duced a 50 lb carp known as ‘The Clas­sic’. Big bream, roach and pike also present.

Tac­tics? The carp show them­selves and of­ten fol­low the wind. It can be weedy, so find clear spots then bait with qual­ity boilies. Bream on small boilies over ground­bait. Pike to 20 lb al­ready caught this sea­son, fall­ing to dead­baits and plugs.
