GOOD WEEK...
Abstraction joy – the Angling Trust and the WWF have welcomed Government proposals to regulate previously unlicensed water abstractions. Mark Lloyd, Trust chief executive, said: “At long last the Government has acted to regulate the free-for-all that has allowed abstractors to take unlimited amounts of water. While we welcome this small step, we urge Ministers to take a leap towards more fundamental reform.”
● England joy – the World Lure Champs heads home in 2018 with the four-day event on Cambridgeshire’s Rutland Water from October 11-14. Home advantage could help British teams. Angling Trust competitions manager Ben Thompson said: “Rutland will provide a fantastic challenge.”
