Bordon peg back Dorking
IT’S all-square between Drennan Bordon and Daiwa Dorking with two rounds remaining in the Avon Valley Winter League.
Reigning champs Bordon drew level with league newcomer titans Dorking after a resounding Round Four victory on Gold Valley Lakes and the Basingstoke Canal, with 71 points to 61.
Anthony Flint led Bordon’s charge with a canal top score of 13 lb 15 oz 8 dr of punch-tempted skimmers and roach from a peg at Ash Wharf.
Backed by section seconds for Andy Gregory and Mick Ellyatt on the canal, and Terry Molloy, Andy Quarmby and Dave Lewis on the lakes, the teams are tied on six points apiece, with thirdplaced Arun MG a distant third on 17.
“This was an important win. The two remaining rounds are both on the same venues, so anything can happen,” said Drennan Bordon skipper Nick Jones.
Top weight from Gold fell to Marc Illingworth (Mosella Homestores) with 169 lb 8 oz of carp to 12 lb from Syndicate Lake peg 123 on pellet waggler and edge tactics.
