REDBRIDGE LAKES, WOODFORD GREEN, ESSEX
MAKING a pilgrimage to Canterbury this weekend could be well worth considering, especially if you like to stalk chub.
This shallow and often clear stretch of waterway is renowned for its fish to over 5lb which are caught consistently, and it also holds some stunning roach to over 2lb and dace to over 1lb. The pegs off St Radigunds Street are the ones to head to.
A small amount of gear such as a strong 10ft float rod, landing net, unhooking mat and a tub of bait is all you need for a great day’s sport, and it is best to travel light so you can walk and spot the fish.
Some anglers like to target the chub using light leger gear with bread on the hook, but catching on a trotted float while feeding maggots is more fun.
