HAVE you entered the Canal Pairs Championship yet?

The nation’s biggest canal angling competition has expanded this year and includes regional qualifying heats in Wales, Scotland and Ireland, as well as 12 heats in England.

Organised by the Canal & River Trust and the Angling Trust, the Championship will see five pairs in each heat qualify for the grand final in October, held on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal. The Junior Canal Championship will be fished on the same venue, on the same day.

Prize money in 2016 is also increasing and, subject to entry, the top four pairs could share a total of £15,000.

The first qualifier is hosted by Hodnet Angling Club and will take place on the Shropshire Union Canal on Saturday, July 2.

A full list of venues can be found on the Trust website and entries can be made on 0115 906 1301.
