CLUB INTRODUCES HOLIDAY TICKETS
Fish Dorset Stour and Hampshire Avon for just £50 a week!
A FAMOUS angling club has found a novel way to boost revenue – by selling reducedprice holiday memberships.
Christchurch Angling Club in Dorset is now offering anglers the chance to fish some top river stretches at a fraction of thestandard membership price for those who only make short visits.
The famous club, whose standard membership costs £147 for new adult members, is offering new holiday tickets at just £50 for one week or £80 for two. These gives access to prime stretches of the Rivers Stour and Avon, as well as numerous stillwaters.
Club spokesman Andrew Walker said Christchurch AC wanted to make its fisheries more accessible to everyone. He said: “The Stour and Avon still have an aura about them and are in a popular tourist area which people from all over the country like to visit.
“After talking with our customers we believe many anglers are put off by the high prices, or are left to fish a diminishing number of day-ticket waters, if they just want to visit the area for a short break. So we decided to make the change and give it a go.”
As well as holiday memberships the club has also introduced an interest-free pay monthly scheme which allows members a more manageable way to pay. Andrew added: “£147 is a lot for anglers to pay up at front, so we wanted to give people the chance to make it easier. This works out at less than £12 a month – great value considering what’s on offer. Membership starts from the day they buy a ticket, so they don’t lose out if theytake it out late in the year.”
The club has already seen a spike in sales as anglers sign up to fish its waters and many more take up the monthly payment route. The club is now encouraging others to follow suit. Said Andrew: “It makes it far easier for our members to have more options – gone are the days when you have one fee and only one month in the year to buy membership”.
