Best for: CARP A great way of getting quicker bites is to make your hookbait stand out from all the free offerings. Tipping a boilie with a small piece of artificial corn is an easy way to achieve this. The colour yellow has a proven track record, but don’t be afraid to experiment with other colours such as white or red.

Best for: CARP, TENCH, BREAM Use a baiting needle to thread a sinking maggot on to your hooklink (making sure the hooklink exits the maggot from the side just below the top) and push it down over the eye of the hook. The angle at which the hooklink leaves the maggot helps the hook to flip over and catch hold of a fish’s bottom lip when it picks up the rig and results in more positive bites. It also aids rig camouflage and makes it harder for wary fish to spot the hook. Fish with a couple of real of fake sinking maggots on the hook and cast out with a large PVA bag filled with wrigglers. Visit www.nextgenera for more information on Klone Baits
