Six enormous grass carp fell to it

Angling Times (UK) - - TIPS & TACTICS -

MY REELS were spooled with 30lb braid to cut through the weed closest to me, but the final 24ft of line was fluorocarbon connected by an FG knot. This clear material would be invisible to the fish and sink rapidly.

Next came an E-S-P adjustable lead clip sitting on 6ft of leadcore, the tail rubber only just squeezed on so that the 4oz Dumpy lead would be jettisoned on the take.

Hooklengths were my faithful 8ins of 20lb semi-stiff Tungsten Loaded to a size 5 Cryogen Gripper hook. A 16mm Sticky Krill boilie on a knotlessknotted hair sat off the bend of the hook, with a short piece of steamed shrink tubing over the eye to create an aggressive angle. These hooks are super-strong and reliable. A 4oz Dumpy lead could easily be jettisoned. Camouflaged, sinking hooklink – my favourite.
