SNAKE LAKE CHARMER

The far bank of snake lakes are always home to stacks of fish at this time of year as the shoals cruise up and down in the shallow water.

Once again, a rig that will remain stable when the fish come into the peg in large numbers is important, and that is why I like to use a rugby ball-shaped float that is short yet fairly heavy.

I have no qualms about using a 4x12 or 4x14 float in as little as 18ins of water. The fish will often hook themselves against the weight of the wire-stemmed float.
