Angling Times (UK) - - TIPS & TACTICS -

At this time of year large shoals of hungry carp will feed within a few metres of the bank, and a fairly heavy and stable float is required to differentiate proper bites from line bites. A pattern with a thick plastic tip, a rugby ball-shaped body and carbon stem is ideal for the job. The size of the float you use depends on the depth of water you have in front of you, but a 4x14 will work in calm conditions in up to 5ft of water, with a 4x16 better for between 6ft and 8ft of water.
