Angling Times (UK) - - THIS WEEK -

IT WASN’T just barbel making the headlines, as pensioner Tony West will testify after he landed this monster 8lb 3oz chub.

The 73-year-old was fishing a club-run stretch of the Dorset Stour with son Adrian when the specimen took a liking to his 12mm Sticky Baits Krill boilie fished on a light link-leger rig.

Unbelievably, the veteran rod had only fished the river twice before, but after feeding loose offerings of boilies along with PVA bags containing broken boilies and pellets, a tiny twitch on the tip led to a fight he will never forget.

Adrian said: “I fish this river all the time and have had chub to over 7lb before, but I was only taking may dad out here on a guest ticket – he normally just goes match fishing, and now he’s gone and beaten my best within hours of being here. I’m chuffed to bits for him, though.”

LONDONER Ashley Mould visited a stretch of the River Ivel in Bedfordshire, where he introduced a bed of 3mm and 4mm Severn Valley Baits Krillit pellets before casting a 10mm version over the top to snare this personal-best chub weighing 7lb 3oz.
