It’s been a brilliant start to the river season! Top match angler Darren Cox is here to help.
WHEN was the last time you caught a near-2lb roach, massive dace (remember them?) or a big chub on the float?
Well, I know a tiny river where you can do that in one quick session, and it’s free to fish too!
I’m talking about the River Bain in Lincolnshire, a venue you could almost jump across in places, but one that’s so good we’ve named it as our Fishery of the Week in this issue. Take a look at our front cover photo and I’m sure you’ll agree!
It’s just one of a whole host of hidden gems all over the country which are often overlooked in favour of their more famous, headline-grabbing fisheries in their area – and that’s a real shame.
If you’re looking for some inspiration, check out this week’s Where to Fish section where you’ll find a few places on your doorstep you might not have fished before.
When we’re on the subject of rivers, our Tips & Tactics section is packed with great advice from some of the country’s leading running water anglers including resident expert Dave Harrell, match ace Darren Cox and barbel-catcher extraordinaire Steve Pope. If you can’t catch after following their advice, it’s time to take up golf! You’ll also find some in-depth guides to the best pegs to head for this weekend.
If you haven’t yet had a chance to get back on the bank I’d urge you to do so now and fill your boots!
