THERE’S NEVER BEEN MORE REASON TO JOIN THE TRUST

-

WITH the uncertainty surrounding what the EU referendum result will mean for anglers, there has never been a greater need for individuals, clubs and fisheries to join the Angling Trust & Fish Legal.

Increased membership would give us the resources and political weight of numbers to speak up for fishing throughout the political turmoil that lies ahead.

As the national representative and governing body for all anglers in England, the Angling Trust has pledged to fight for the best deals possible:

Pressing for existing EU environmental legislation such as the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, Water Framework Directive and the Habitats Directive, all of which are written into UK law, to be maintained and implemented in full to protect fish and their habitats.

Pressing for sensible regulation of agriculture, and for subsidies to be linked to the achievement of improved outcomes for the water environment.

Ensuring any new arrangements for sea fisheries management benefit both fish stocks and recreational sea anglers.

Read more about our Brexit commitment in the Inside Angle blog by Mark Lloyd, Chief Executive, on the Angling Trust website. WE’VE been running events to help anglers go fishing again after a break from the sport. One of the attendees got back in touch to say: “The course was really informative and now I’m ready to go fishing again, knowing I can choose the right tackle. The time and energy you put into the course was amazing – thanks.”

Paul Maslin, who ran the day, was chuffed to get this positive feedback – please recommend a Get Back Into Angling day to someone you know who should start fishing again!

Find events like this at www. getfishing.org.uk . WE and our partners at Get Hooked On Fishing and National Fishing Month have listed hundreds of fishing events across the country online via www. getfishing.org.uk .

Many of these events are free and may well be happening on a water near you this summer.

So why not save your money on day tickets and fuel and spend it in your tackle shop on bait and bits instead!
