Crackdown reveals 677 licence-dodgers
HUNDREDS of anglers have been found fishing illegally following a nationwide crackdown.
In a three-week early summer enforcement campaign carried out by Environment Agency bailiffs, no fewer than 677 anglers were caught fishing without an EA rod licence.
A total of 9,555 anglers were checked on a number of fisheries across England during the blitz.
Of these, 237 were caught fishing illegally on the first May bank holiday, 277 on the second, and 163 at the start of the river season between June 16 and 19.
