NE of Linear Fisheries’ finest residents was banked in the nick of time for Scott Phillips. few the weekend before. The lake was busy, but I managed to get the same swim as last week. That was a result, as I knew the spots to fish without leading around.”
Having baited with 2kg of particles, the purchasing manager had to wait until Saturday morning for the key bite.
“It seemed to take forever to get my shoes on and get out the bivvy,” he said. “On picking the rod up I knew it was a lump, just plodding around with the occasional shake of the head.”
It was Scott’s turn to quiver once he had netted it and realised which fish it was. “I was shaking knowing that it was Kempy’s in the net, arguably the best-looking fish from the Linear complex!
“The scales settled at 42lb 2oz, my first 40lb-plus fish, beating my previous best by 5lb 2oz,” he said.
“I had three more fish after that but that was enough for me, I packed up around 5pm on the Saturday and went home to celebrate!”
