Angling helps to keep me slim and healthy
MY NON-ANGLING friends always tell me that fishing is a sport for the lazy and idle within society, but I always snigger and fight the urge to argue back.
The reality is that fishing really can be arduous, especially if you enjoy roving like I do.
I can easily cover three or four miles of river in a few hours, and when you include battling through nettle beds, climbing over stiles and battling with big barbel (hopefully!) you have an activity that can actually keep you fit.
I sit behind a desk all week for work, and as I have a taste for a few pints at the weekend I need something to help keep the pounds off. Angling definitely does that for me. Brian Hollidge, email
