Angling Times (UK) - - WELCOME -

EVERYONE has one, some are more meaty than others, and some of you like to keep them secret – so what’s your favourite fishing rig? A quick straw poll around the Angling Times office brought more than a dozen different answers, from Ben Fisk’s ‘dobbing’ pole rig for F1s to Thom Airs’ ‘go anywhere’ carp multi-rig and Richard Grange’s simple peacock waggler set-up for slow-moving rivers.

A couple went old school and mentioned the lift method for summer tench, while Kevin Wilmot opted for a chopped worm pole rig for fishing the drains in winter.

My favourite would have to be a slider rig – big, bodied waggler with a bulk of shot, micro swivel and long hooklength baited with double maggot or a piece of worm.

Or maybe it’s a 3g bodied pole float for running downstream, holding back and bagging on river roach… or maybe the Method.

To settle the matter I called Steve Ringer, and he was quick to say that his favourite was whatever he was using to catch on now! This week he reveals what he believes to be the hottest summer pole rig around, the Jigga with casters. To prove its quality he banged out around 400lb of F1 carp on it for our cameras.
