Patience rewarded with a 3lb rudd
A PATIENT approach was key to Matthew Fernandez banking this 3lb personal best rudd from a southern stillwater.
The Sticky Baits-sponsored angler used two rods set up with helicopter-rigged maggot feeders cast over an area baited with Krill Active Mix, hemp and maggots.
At first hordes of small fish responded to his double maggot hookbait, but Matthew stuck to his guns, convinced that he would eventually gain his just rewards.
That proved to be the case, and after netting 40 smaller samples he struck into something that offered a lot more resistance.
He said: “Just a couple of weeks before I had smashed my pb with a 2lb 14oz rudd and I am absolutely over the moon to have gone and done it again so quickly.
“I had full confidence that the tactic would eventually work – it proves that sticking to your guns is often the best thing to do.”
