I’M not surprised that most record holders and former Drennan Cup winners are from the South.
Southern venues seem to be awash with big fish while we in the North make do with the scraps.
I have been fortunate enough to land barbel to 13lb, chub to just over 6lb and a 2lb roach but I struggle to think of places locally where I could catch fish to improve on these personal bests.
There are plenty of fish up north, but it’s going to take an awful long time before one of our counties grabs another British record. Michael Burns, York
